In the Name of God Amen this is the Last Will and Testament of me Matthew POUNCY of Forthington in the County of Dorset Butcher made and published this Fourteenth day of March in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty Seven.

Impremis: I give and bequeath unto my Neice Elizabeth the wife of Matthew MEDWAY late Elizabeth ROGERS spinster the sum of Thirty Pounds

    Also: I give and bequeath unto my Nephew Harry POUNCY the sum of Fifteen Pounds and to my neice Elizabeth POUNCY the Daughter of my late Brother George POUNCY the sum of Ten Pounds

Item: I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth the daughter of my Nephew George POUNCY the sum of Fifteen Pounds and I do direct that the said sum of Fifteen Pounds to the said Elizabeth the daughter of my said Nephew George POUNCY shall be paid to her out for her benefit and advantage at such time and times and in such manner as my executor hereinafter named shall in his discretion think proper

All the Rest and Residue of my Money and securities for money personal estate and effects whatsover and wheresoever I give and bequeath unto my Brother Harry POUNCY of Dorchester in the said County Gentleman his executors and administrators and I hereby nominate and appoint him my said Brother Harry POUNCY Executor of this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made

Letter of Administration


Know all Men by these presents that we Elizabeth POUNCY of Dorchester in the County of Dorset Widow, Robert STICKLAND of the same place Gentleman and George POUNCY of Dorchester aforesaid Butcher are held and firmly bound unto Edmund GIBSON Arch M.A. Vicar General and principal official of the Right Reverend Father in God Spencer Lord Bishop of Bristol in the sum of three hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to the said Edmund GIBSON or his certain attorney receivers or administrators or assigns for which payment whole and truly to be made We bind ourselves and each of us by himself and herself for the whole and every part thereof on and each of our heirs executors and administrators firmly by these presents sealed with our seal Dated the sixteenth day of May in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Three.

The Condition of this obligation is such that if -- the above bounden Elizabeth POUNCY the Widow and Relict and Administratrix of Matthew POUNCY late of Dorchester aforesaid Butcher together with the last Will and Testament of the said Matthew POUNCY deceased annexed do make or cause to be made a full true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the Goods Chattles and Credits of the said deceased and the same so made do bring in and exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the Registry of the Court of the Bishop of Bristol at or before the last day of November next ensuing And do sole and truly adminsiter (that is to say) do pay the debts which the said Matthew POUNCY did owe at the time of his decease and the legacies given and bequested in and by the last Will and Testament so far as the Goods Chattles and Credits will thereunto extend and the law charge her, And further do make and order, or cause to to made and ordered, a just full and true accompt of and upon the said administration in the premises when she shall be thereunto lawfully required then this obligation to be void else to remain in full force and virtue.

Sealed and delivered being first duly sworn in the presence of Nathaniel TEMPLEMAN

On the sixteenth day of May 1793 the above bonded Elizabeth POUNCY was sworn sole and faithfully to administer all and singular the Goods Chattles and Credits of her late husband Matthew POUNCY deceased according to the tenor thereof also to exhibit a full true and perfect Inventory of the said Goods Chattles and Credits into the Registry of the Court of the Bishop of Bristol and a just account of the administration therein when thereunto required.
